At DNA, we like to have fun with what we do. And sometimes getting crafty over extravagant can result in more solid branding and less expenses. If you had a chance to attend our recent nonprofit Special Event Planning seminar from our Shine the Light on Your Nonprofit series, you’ll recognize our example.

When thinking about how to decorate for the event, we really wanted to focus on how nonprofits are each so unique and how events can be really varied…at the same time, we wanted to complement our Shine the Light brand. So we came up with the idea to use lanterns as the focal point of our centerpieces and challenged the team to come up with individual themes surrounding the lantern’s look. Our thought was: just as different as the lanterns are from each other, so are the variety of nonprofits in the Upstate…but they are each shining their light to support our community!

We discovered that 1) together have an inordinate amount of lanterns and 2) you can make the dollar store stretch a long way, and 3)  it was a fun way to be creative and meaningful.
