Background:
Renewable Water Resources (ReWa) is the local wastewater utility provider
for Greenville that DNA has supported the communications and public
education efforts for numerous years. Campaigns include educational
efforts like Project Rx (see case study 12), for proper medication disposal,
and F.O.G. for proper disposal of fats, oils & grease. Many of ReWa's
education efforts are kid-friendly and conveyed through its mascot Freshwater
Freddie, of which DNA oversaw the development. DNA also developed and
manages ReWa's website and e-communications efforts with community leaders
and procurement vendors.
Goals:
To raise awareness of environmentally safe behavior regarding disposal
and our waterways throughout Greenville County. To develop a strong
and informed relationship with the community through communications
and media relations efforts.
DNA Results:
DNA develops an annual communications plan for ReWa to strategically
target its audience groups with the right message at the right time.
Through DNA's assistance, ReWa won the National Recreation & Parks
Association's Corporate Humanitarian Award for its partnership with
the Greenville Recreation District. ReWa's annual reports - both to
the community and its financial report - that DNA designs and develops
have each won the Government Finance Officers Association's excellence
awards for more than a dozen consecutive years. The specific educational
campaigns, like Project Rx and F.O.G, have also seen great success with
extensive media coverage and growing community partnerships. ReWa's
website maintains a consistently low bounce rate and DNA's management
of ongoing content development continues to grow web traffic.
